Cycol Gallery: Where Traditional Art Meets Solana Blockchain

In the heart of New York City’s Lower East Side, at 91 Allen Street, a quiet revolution in the art world is unfolding. Cycol Gallery, which opened its doors in fall 2025, stands as the first physical gallery fully integrated with the Solana blockchain, powered by both Solana (SOL) and the community-driven memecoin BONK. This hybrid space fuses traditional exhibition practices with blockchain technology, offering artists verifiable digital ownership alongside tangible artworks.

Founder and director JT Liss, a veteran street photographer, digital collage artist, and president of the Solana-based marketplace Exchange Art, envisioned Cycol as a bridge between worlds. The gallery’s name reflects this cyclical philosophy — a portmanteau inspired by Liss’s children and the ebbs and flows of an artist’s career and the broader market.

From Street Photography to Blockchain Vision

Liss built deep relationships across New York’s graffiti, traditional, and digital art scenes over more than a decade. High Ethereum gas fees during early experiments led him to Solana’s low-cost ecosystem, where he sold his Face Value collection and produced global digital exhibitions.

By 2022, he expanded as Director of BONK Art Masters and president of Exchange Art. The physical gallery concept emerged from ecosystem discussions: a space where physical works could be exhibited traditionally while minting digital twins on-chain for provenance, royalties, and global reach.

Cycol Gallery officially launched on November 7, 2025, with the exhibition What Had Happened Was, curated by Steve Sweatpants of Street Dreams Magazine. Over 400 visitors attended the opening, driving strong sales and immediate momentum. Subsequent shows, including Not Quite Still, further established its reputation.

How the Hybrid Model Works

Visitors encounter classic gallery curation and tactile artworks. Yet every piece pairs with blockchain functionality: artists upload to Exchange Art, mint an NFT as a digital certificate, and collectors receive both the physical work and on-chain token.

A partnership with Blackdove provides digital frames for remote NFT display, extending artworks globally. Smart contracts ensure automatic artist royalties on secondary sales — a safeguard rare in traditional markets.

Current Exhibition: Frank Ape’s “Let’s Be Frank”

As of May 2026, Cycol presents Let’s Be Frank, a solo exhibition by New York artist Brandon Sines (Frank Ape). Running through May 31, the two-floor show centers on the ambitious 8-foot sculpture Home Is All of Us, new paintings featuring “Frank Friends” characters inspired by NYC street encounters, and immersive installations blending painting, sculpture, video, and mural work. The May 1 opening featured free flash tattoos by Mira Mariah (Girl Knew York).

Broader Implications for the Art World

Cycol emerges at a pivotal time for an industry seeking democratization while preserving value. Blockchain delivers immutable provenance, reduces forgery risks, and enables seamless international participation. Solana’s speed and low fees, combined with BONK’s community support, make the model practical and sustainable.

Liss notes that digital art will run alongside physical works, creating new secondary markets and revenue streams without replacing traditional practice. Early success — consistent attendance, sales, and ecosystem interest — suggests this hybrid approach has lasting power.

A Model Worth Watching

In New York’s competitive scene, Cycol balances accessibility with curation excellence. Future plans include more cross-community shows, workshops, and international extensions.
